The Leak

This is my newest piece. It is about the concept of the color pink. It mostly looks like a tragic menstrual disaster. This is a passageway. This is about the fear of the feminization of space and architecture. I am creating more intimate architecture that imitates or references the female body/experience and making it's animation and structure reliant on the room it exists in. Its kind of a demented wreath situation, like a wreath that blew up and went three dimensional and wasn't like "welcome to the space" but was more "welcome to the world through this birth canal." "The Leak" Muslin, potato dextrin, dye on iron rings.

Charcoal and graphite on BFK, 22x30

#3

OK. This is my third of this current series which I have decided to name "States of Unrest". The individual pieces don't have names. This one seems to be one part aggression, one part yawn, one part blow-up doll. Any feedback is appreciated! Woo! Party on. Make it big! 14x24, charcoal on BFK.

Quilt

This is a love story. Quilt 65x80 This piece is a very personal exploration of intimacy and the body. I am taking a very traditional object (a quilt) and incorporating some very personal items that are related closely to the body of someone I am close to. It also has to do with the nature of romantic relationships in that sometimes it is uncomfortable or feels un-powerful to admit how much power someone(a man) might have over you (or me) and I feel creating such a historically female piece about this phenomenon allows one to take a little power back. I am also very drawn to the relationship of the body to the things that bodies interact with or within and the relationship between those things. For me blankets have become a type of architecture, and beds are a very intimate type of architecture, in concept and in practice. Quilt (I need a better name for this) 65...
